Who are we?
Sporting Equals are not for profit charity helping to promote ethnic diversity across the sport and physical activity sector. We support greater involvement in sport and physical activity for disadvantaged communities particularly the Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) population. Our ambition is to create healthier, fairer and safer communities. We are the national partner of Sport England and advisors to the Department of Culture Media and Sport.
We support and empower BAME organisations and individuals to get involved in sport and physical activity at their chosen level. Our mission is to make a sustainable difference to the inclusion of all under represented communities and improve the long term opportunities and health outcomes of those communities as well as to grow elite level talent.
How are we supporting GOGA?
We will support the GOGA partners to ensure BAME and faith communities are engaged with their activities by:
- Sharing insight about the BAME communities and their access to sports provision to enable greater inclusion
- Development of toolkit resource, learning and best practice
- Marketing and communications support: Providing marketing and communications advice, guidance and support to ensure co-ordinated messaging to increase BAME participation in target areas
- Community brokerage: This activity would help support GOGA to increase participation from BAME communities through the brokering of relationships and partnerships with BAME groups.
