My Sight Tandem ride at Cycle Live 2018

My Sight in conjunction with Ride Wise and the Nottingham City Council GOGA is organising a Visually Impaired (VI) Tandem Ride at Cycle Live 2018 on Sunday 24 June 2018 (formally the Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride).

The organisers have a separate start and already have in excess of 10 tandems taking part. They are looking for additional beginner and experienced tandem rider volunteers from both the sighted and visually impaired communities to take part. There is a funded training programme staffed by qualified instructors and tandems available for both training and on the day of the event. It’s great fun for pilots at the front and stokers alike!

Experienced visually impaired tandem pairs are especially welcome to make this a spectacle.

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of tandem riding for visually impaired people and to create a group who will continue regular tandem riding in the Nottingham area in the future.

Information on My Sight:

My Sight Nottinghamshire, formerly Nottinghamshire Royal Society for the Blind (NRSB), is the only charity dedicated exclusively to improving the lives of people living with sight loss in Nottinghamshire. We provide support services, leisure opportunities, information and advice to thousands of local visually impaired people and their families.

We believe that no one should have to face sight loss alone and unsupported and that is why we are determined to work towards a world in which blind and partially sighted people of all ages have access to the same opportunities as everyone else. We work with individuals to ensure they achieve their own unique goals and enjoy a full and independent life beyond sight loss.

We also campaign on a range of local issues affecting visually impaired people and promote awareness of eye health within the wider community because we want to make sure that no one has to experience avoidable sight loss.
